Fire in the Sky

The earth is said to be spherical. But did anyone ever think whether the minds of the people residing on it can keep up to the demands of the gravitational pull? There have been efforts to cool down the surface of the earth from all spheres, and the heat has been pushed upward to have a ball with the firmament. And this ball is literally true,in its every sense. This dances along with the clouds after being fired by the ones having a strong arm and eyesight. The game of cricket has evolved over the years and the players no more carry the burden of the entire day of cricket, and most recently,it has become a form of entertainment after having been curtailed. It has become a batsman's paradise with them firing the bowlers and the spectators return home with a gloomy face unless they see some fireworks by their favourites.Indian Premier League has acted as a boost to this new form of discipline better known as T20.Less of overs, more of hard-hitting to accelerate the scoreboard and awards being given to the ones hitting the maximum number of sixes is reason enough calling the entire glitz and glamour nothing but paradise regained. The lake of 'fire' is filled with its 'balls' where Satan probably utters the lines-"You're racing like a fireball dancing like a ghost" after seeing the balls hit up in the sky by the Pathans'and the Husseys'.THe main display is seen generally at the end of the first innings when a respective team tries to reach out to that competitive score.
It is summer and after a whole year of wait-Anurag Basu and Rakesh Roshan's 'KITES' is about to release this May 2010.One is still about to decipher the significance of KITES in the film but it is kites which always light up the sky during the cultural festivals.Man always had this desire to fly,the reason why he invented the aeroplane.A kite is a flying craft held by a thread which balances it in the air and during the festivals,a whole range of colours, provide that midas touch paving the way for a perfect
kite fight.Gujarat, being the place for business and agriculture, also has its share in kites. The kite festival is held in every city of Gujarat at a particular time in a year attended by professional kite makers all around the world. The visual display in the sky emits a fire-of passion, the people who fight it out to save their kites from being eaten away by others-all in the sky. This justifies the nursery poem we all had read-"Up above the wonder sky"-the sky is really transformed into a a wonderland making people wonder as to how can the vast expanse be so much full of vigour.Fire is often referred to as something blazing-burning down the effegies of the colonisers, and now corrupt politicians but the better side of it has always been ignored.Fire has its own place which is visible when people are seen celebrating an ocassion burning crackers, and flying those artificial rockets and missiles during Diwali. It is the element of earth, possessing, that spark which enlightens a mind-causes the visual sensation.Spherical is in the mind of the people whereas the shape of the earth is nothing but imaginative.Did this accomodate?or do we have to go the spherical way?The sky is vast, endless and it can accomodate fire-be it in the form of those boys in jerseys or the kites in the sky.
